I hope everyone is having a great summer! I am busy with Summer Learning Academy at Oakland. We harvested these vegetables from our April/May garden. It made me think about all of us.
Students are like seeds. They have to be nurtured at school and home. They have to be fed proper foods to grow healthy, and they must have a safe, secure environment at home and school to truly thrive and succeed.
Parents and Teachers are like the sun and water. Every time we spend time with them, use kind words to teach them and tell them about undiscovered things, read with them one on one in a comfortable, cozy spot and love them... they drink up! They grow to be true successes!
I hope, like these foods above, that you are ready to do your part to help your child be successful this year! I am ready! :)
My name is Annette Hyder! I have 2 daughters. Emily is 22 and graduates from Clemson University in August and Katie is 18 and going into the Bridge to Clemson program in August. I have been married 24 years to my High School Sweetheart! We are facing a new phase in life, "Empty Nesters". That is great for you all because I have even more time to devote to the classroom. I have received 3 teaching awards througout my years in the classroom and have served on different leadership committees. The current committee is our District Math Committee where we have worked to implement and cover the Common Core State Standards.
I have been at Oakland since the opening of the school and I have taught within this district my entire career!
I love to read, work out at the gym, and spend time with family and friends. ( I also love to eat anything sweet... hence, the gym membership.)
I look forward to getting to know you all this school year!
