1st Grade worked on creating nonfiction question and answer books to accompany our Social Studies Unit on countries around the world. Here are a few samples of our books....                                                                                                                                       Gregory wanted to write about his dad so his question and answer book was about places and things he does with his father.

Hannah wrote about Australia. She told about how hats are alike and different.

This is a part of Breanna's question and answer book about Italy.  We discussed chapters, subheadings, and how information in your book answers the question!

This is Juliana's Table of Contents for China.

This is Adeline's  Book Cover of  China.  The children worked in pairs to gather information from books, the internet, and video clips.

This is Hannah putting pictures in order to show how the bread was made...
This is the fresh bread we tasted because we are workers!  It goes with our plant unit because the Little Red Hen planted seeds so the wheat would grow!
5/15/2013 - We have been learning about Fairy Tale Elements and today we learned how you HAVE TO WORK to have things in life!  This video shows the 3 animals who learned that lesson!

Way to go Bryson!  Bryson earned game ball for hitting two homeruns!  So proud of you!  :)
We have been learning about plant parts and their important jobs!   This is celery that we placed in water tinted with red food coloring.  The kids were amazed to see the top turn red the next day!  They learned the stem supports the plant and carries water needed to the leaves!

Riding in the wagon after learning about peaches in the orchard at Strawberry Hill.
How are strawberries fed?  The children were exposed to the irrigation system!
Welcome everyone!  We had a great day at Strawberry Hill learning about plants today!
